People v R.E.

Jury finds businessman not guilty of biting off the ear of another man

A visiting Southern California businessman found trouble at a local bar when he was attacked and placed in a choke-hold by another man.  During the fight the businessman bit off the ear of his attacker.

The businessman was charged with mayhem a serious crime that carried a potentially long prison sentence.  He called Lawrence & Peck.  Through long investigation we learned that the attacker was trained in martial arts and argued to the jury that the businessman was acting in justifiable self-defense.  The jury acquitted the businessman of all charges in less than an hour.

Verdict: Not Guilty
